How do you keep yourself from getting overwhelmed?

This is probably tied with “How do you stay motivated?” for the questions that I get most when I talk with new bloggers one on one. So today I’ve decided to dive into both.

First, it is important for you to realize that it is better if it takes you 5 months to get your blog ready and launched because you did it slow and steady than quitting because you tried to do it in a weekend so you got overwhelmed and quit.

It’s like trying to get a diet to work, it only works if you make change slow and steady overtime if you jump in to fast and hard you’re going to give up before you get the results you want.

The key to not getting overwhelmed is:

  1. Break down everything you need to do into very small steps (or use the checklist I included in 30 Days to Blog Success which you can learn more about or join here don’t forget you get 50% off with code EMAILCOURSE until tonight at midnight EST.

  2. Get a planner and set an alarm every day to remind you to write in one task you can do in order to get your blog closer to ready.

  3. Set an alarm to have a check-in with yourself on Sunday and write down everything you got accomplished this week in regards to your blog, write down what you didn’t get done, and what you plan to do next week.

How do you keep yourself motivated?

This is one of my favorite questions because it’s something I’ve really had to master over the last four years I’ve been blogging.

If I don’t force myself to stay dedicated to my blog then my families income would fall off, and we wouldn’t get to live the life we have now. That’s definitely not what I want so I need to stay motivated.

Here Is how I stay motivated:

Goals

I have always been particular with my goals and made sure I re-write my goals down EVERY SINGLE DAY in my note book, so I continue to be motivated to reach them.

A few of the big goals I have achieved so far by blogging:

  1. Go to Hawaii for over 10 days.

  2. Quit my 9-5 job.

  3. Buy my dream suv.

  4. Paid off all my credit card debt.

Here is a little activity that might help you:

  1. Get a piece of paper and a pen.

  2. Write down 5+ reasons you wish you had a money making blog (the more specific, the better) here are a few of my examples.

  •  I want to earn over $500,000 from my blog.

  •  I want to buy a brand new Escalade.

  • I want to save enough money for a 20% down payment on our new dream house.

  • I want to go on a cruise.

  • I want to launch a podcast.

Now write those things down every single day, again and again. Just keep reminding yourself of what blogging can do for you if you stick to it.

Extra things you can do:

  1. Follow bloggers you look up to on Instagram and look at their profiles, posts, and stories often.

  2. Create a Secret Pinterest Board and pin things to it that you could have if your blog was successful.

  3. Create a vision board and put it somewhere and look at it daily.

Let’s wrap up what was in this course:

  1. Blog Names: you want your blog name to be simple, spelled correctly, and a .com.

  2. Blog Hosting: you want a self hosted blog, preferably a blog hosted on Bluehost because that means you own all your content, and you are free to do whatever you want. (unlike WordPress.com, Blogger.com, and other popular blogging platforms)

  3. Blog Theme: you want a mostly white theme, with black text it’s easy to read.

  4. Blog Design: you set your blog apart through your blog name, tagline, logo, favicon, home page, side bar, about and contact page.

  5. Blog Content: you can figure out what type of content to create by searching Pinterest, and social media for inspiration. A good blog post answers a question and some of the best blog posts have titles that start with “How to” or “# of Ways to”.

  6. Blog Monetization: the way you make money blogging is through having affiliate marketing, ads sponsored blog posts, or creating and selling your own products.

  7. Email Marketing: is one of the best ways to make money as a blogger because you own your audience, and you can contact them directly whenever you want to.

  8. Pinterest: is the very best way to grow your blog traffic organically. You can use Pin it Perfect as a tool to help you figure out your Pinterest.

  9. Overwhelm: to keep yourself not overwhelmed use a checklist and assign yourself one super small task to do each day. You can use the checklist in 30 Days to Blog Success as a guideline. (which you can learn more about or join here plus get 50% off with code EMAILCOURSE join here.)

  10. Motivation: to motivate yourself write down 5 things your blog income could do for you if your blog became successful. Then re-write down these same things everyday until you achieve them. Once you achieve one add a new goal to the list.

What should you do now that you’ve finished this course?

Can you believe you did it? You have a blog that totally rocks, and you are ready to take on blogging head first.

Now that you have your blog, it’s set up, and you know what you should be doing It’s time to dive right into 30 Days to Blog Success which will take a deeper dive into blogging.
