How I Used Pinterest to Grow My Business From $30k to $400k per year

I used to be the girl who would scroll Pinterest and see bloggers talk about how they make $20k per month blogging and think that couldn’t possibly be real.

I have always wanted to work from home to be with my family and travel, but for a long time, it didn’t seem like it was going to be an option.

In May of 2016, I started this blog to share my life with friends and family and meet more women like me. I was a newlywed nursing student who hated nursing school and wanted to be a full-time blogger instead.

The first few months of blogging, I made basically nothing from it, but I was determined to make it work, so I didn’t give up.

Eventually, I started to gain a little bit of traffic and started making some money.

After nearly a year of blogging, I quit my job, but I was only making around $30,000 per year from this blog. It is definitely not enough to retire my husband or allow us to travel and change other people’s lives as well.

A few months later, after reading tons of books and taking more digital marketing classes than I ever thought existed, I created a Pinterest strategy that completely changed everything for me.

I went from making around $2,000 per month to making around $30,000 per month. I thought it was a complete fluke, and I was afraid to tell anyone about it. I am still kind of scared to tell people about this because this will change lives, but also it lets out my secrets and tips, which is scary!

I didn’t even want to talk to my husband about it because I thought talking about it was bad luck. (talking about it makes it feel real)

The next month the same thing happened.

And the month after that.

And the month after that month.

So finally, after being successful for a while, I have now decided to share my secrets with you guys because I want this strategy to change your life too.

WHAT GOES INTO HOW I USE PINTEREST FOR MY BLOG / BUSINESS?

1. BLOG POSTS

I have found that telling a story is way more likely to get someone to buy your product than just taking them to a page where they can check out that product.

Especially when it is a new product or service people aren’t use to seeing.

If you want to make money through Pinterest I highly suggest having a blog and writing about the products you sell, or the affiliate products you advertise for.

That way you can share a story about the product or let people know why they should try it, and what it has done for you. People are so much more likely to buy if you give them a genuine story.

I have noticed that if I write a blog post about a product then pin the blog post I make way more money from affiliate income than I would if I just linked the pin directly to the product. So If you want to make money on Pinterest I highly recommend having a blog.

If you want to start a blog and have no idea how to get started I have a completely free email course that will walk you through the process step-by-step because I was totally lost when I started.

2. EASY TO READ PINS

On Pinterest, you see so many cute pins, but oftentimes people will use a weird font that is hard to read.

When I first started blogging, I was on a mission to have the cutest pins, but actually, I was creating pins that were hard to read.

I would use cursive fonts and different color text to match the background, and all in all, they were just hard to read. If you want to make money on Pinterest, you are going to have to create easy-to-read pins.

In my course Pin It To Win It, I walk you step-by-step how I create my easy-to-read pins that get hundreds of thousands of people to click on them and buy from them.

It is a mix of what I have learned just being a blogger, and what I learned about the science of colors as a marketing student. After I learned how to make pins in the way that I teach in Pin it To Win It my business totally changed.

I didn’t realize what goes into the pin could make such a big difference in my income.

3. PINTEREST BOARD TITLES & DESCRIPTIONS

Who knew Pinterest board titles and descriptions matter? When I first started using Pinterest for my blog I would just make all my boards titled like this:

“My Ideal Spring Closet”

“My Ideal Master Decor”

WRONG! Now I know your board titles and descriptions actually matter.

In one of my digital marketing classes, we talked about Pinterest and after it I went back and changed all my Pinterest board titles and descriptions. Then I started getting so much more traffic from Pinterest.

And more traffic meant a lot more income from affiliate links and selling my own products.

In Pin it To Win It I walk you through the process of how exactly to pick the right Pinterest board name and board description so Pinterest knows who to show your pins to which means more profit and traffic for you!

4. RUNNING ADS DOESN’T COST

Okay before you call me a liar I’ll explain. Yes, running ads do cost money, but there isn’t a big risk involved because you control the budget.

I run Pinterest ads at $0.10 per click and from those ads on average I make $0.60 per click which means I am making $0.50 for every click.

This means the more ads I run the more money I make.

When I first started running ads to see if they worked I would let Pinterest chose the budget for me based on their recommendations BIG MISTAKE! I lost hundreds of dollars and I thought “That’s it! Ads don’t work!”

When you start an ad on Pinterest they automatically suggest a budget and run it at that unless you know how to change it. Well, when I first started I didn’t know that was a thing.

So I gave up on them and turned off all my ads for months! Until I learned more about advertising and learned exactly how to run the perfect ad at my perfect budget!

And here is the part where I say I teach you how to customize your ads, and set the perfect budget for yourself and your business in Pin it To Win It because it’s true I do teach that stuff in Pin it To Win It.

And listen I’m not some super guru who has some special touch that you don’t have, I am just a regular girl who started a blog, and a T-shirt shop and didn’t give up even when everyone thought she was dumb for trying to build an internet business.

You can do this too! I’m not special!

That is why I am so passionate about what I teach in Pin it To Win It because I really believe that It can help anyone grow and scale their business to a level that will change their life forever.

>>>> Reminder: As I said a few times in this post Pin It To Win It enrollment is about to close so I am offering $47 off of it which makes it only $30 if you join using the code: TRIBE
